Day Camp Overview

Greenville Rec’s summer day camps are offered at various locations throughout the Greenville County.  There are several types of camps to chose from based on cost and ages served. .Greenville County Rec is honored to be a “Partner in Prevention” with the Darkness to Light – Stewards of Children Training Program which teaches adults how to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse.  All Greenville Rec full-time and part-time program staff are trained in this program.

Summer 2016

Camp Kaleidoscope

Greenville County Rec. is very excited to have you join us for Summer 2016.  Our goals for camp are very simple; Keep the campers safe & make them smile! All field trips, pizza parties, and waterpark trips are included in your fee. Our campers will enjoy all of our typical activities; swimming, game playing, and arts & crafts projects. And some not-so-typical activities like; messy counselor day, Christmas in July, Twins day, and more. Our swimming trips will include Discovery Island Water Park, Otter Creek Water Park, 7th Inning Splash Water Park and Westside Aquatic Center. Field trips will have visits to Gattitown, the Greenville Drive, and bowling & skating.

Conestee Camp

Lake Conestee Nature Park is one of the greatest natural resources in South Carolina.  Our week will include exploration of almost all of the 400+ acres that the park encompasses. We will look at the following topics: What trees grow here?  Who lives in the Park? Learn the Park food chain. Water quality at the park, is it getting better?

Campers will also enjoy a trip to a local waterpark and one more field trip.

Tennis Camp

Learn to play or improve your skills at tennis camp at the Pavilion with our professional tennis instructors who have more than a decade of experience. Instill a love of tennis  while they learn in a fun, friendly environment.

Location: Pavilion Recreation Complex Tennis Courts

Ages: 4-18

Mountain Bike Camp

Do you have adventurous kids who want to hit the trails? This camp is designed to teach them how to handle all that our local mountain bike trails have to offer.  The camp is based at Gateway Park which features the Bike Skills Flow Park. The Park offers mountain bikers a progression of trails with various challenges and terrains designed to introduce riders to the sport and sharpen their skills.

We will also cover skills like; proper riding position, proper gearing & braking, and some basic mechanical items. We will take day trips to following locations: Paris Mt. State Park, Issaqueena Lake Trail, and Dupont State Park. New for this year will be a day of Cyclocross riding!! Additionally we will visit Otter Creek & Discovery Island Waterparks.  (Camper numbers: minimum 15- max 25)

Camp Pavilion

Send your child to join in the fun at Camp Pavilion this summer!  Each summer our kids look forward to coming to camp to enjoy games, crafts, field trips, and developing relationships with counselors and friends.  Each week we visit one of our fantastic water parks as well as travel on an additional field trip.  Field trips in previous years have included visits to Frankie’s, the Greenville Drive, bowling & skating, and Gravitopia.  All field trips are included in the cost of camp. .

Wanderers Teen Camp

The Wanderers Teen Camp is a great place for teens that enjoy making friends and want lots of activity. Each summer The Wanderers engage in a variety of activities at the Pavilion, visit local soup kitchens, and swim weekly. The campers enjoy weekly local field trips as well as a few out of town BIG field trips. Examples of previous BIG trips include: Lake Lanier Water Park, Carowinds or Six Flags and the National Whitewater Center in Charlotte, NC. All field trips are included in the cost of camp.

Community Center Summer Vacation Camps

A LIFETIME OF MEMORIES IN ONE ENDLESS SUMMER!!!  Campers will continue to work on life skills learned during the academic year:  flexibility, initiative, social skills, productivity, and leadership.  However, lessons will be practiced in a safe, fun, relaxed atmosphere called CAMP.  Campers will participate in a variety of activities from sports & games, arts & crafts, special events, recreational and educational field trips, motivational speakers and much more.  In addition, our weekly swimming field trips will include 7th Inning Splash, Discovery Island, and Otter Creek Water Parks.  Lunch and afternoon snack are provided daily.  COME JOIN THE FUN!!!

Community Center Summer Teen Leadership Camps

Teen Campers will participate in a variety of activities, workshops, and events that will work on eight (8) core life and career skills:  communication, food, money, clothing, at-home, car, career development, and community service.  Teens will learn everyday life skills to help them become happy, productive adults in a safe, fun and relaxed environment called CAMP.  Teens will learn to become self-sufficient before they head off to college, military, or the work force.  Teens will continue to participate in a variety of recreation activities as well, such as sports & games, arts & crafts, special events, recreational and educational field trips, motivational speakers and much more.  In addition, our weekly swimming field trips will include 7th Inning Splash, Discovery Island, and Otter Creek Water Parks.  Lunch and afternoon snack are provided daily.  COME JOIN THE FUN!!!
