History of Loretta C. Wood Park

Loretta C. Wood Park is the southern most park in the Recreation District system and serves a semi rural, yet rapidly growing area of Greenville County. It is part of a 240 acre site that the District purchased almost 15 years ago realizing that shifting population trends would bring future demands for recreational services. The park opened in 2008 and is named after the late Loretta Wood, a long time community activist well known for her volunteer efforts with the Dunklin Fire Department and Ellen Woodside Elementary School.
