Community Centers

We Create Community Through People, Parks, and Programs

Community Centers offer a variety of indoor and outdoor recreational and learning opportunities for all ages.  The centers are available to rent for social and civic activities.

After School Programs are offered at Mt. Pleasant,  Sterling, Freetown, and Brutontown Community Centers and Slater Elementary School. Activities include sports, homework assistance, arts & crafts, and special events. Click on the center below for further information.
Registration is ongoing during the school year. Call the individual center for details.

Summer Day Camps for grades K-5 through 8th grade will be held June 13 – August 5 (no camp on July 4, 2011).   Registration is now open for returing Campers, new campers can register starting March 7th.

Kicks for Kids Soccer Program held at Wenwood Soccer Complex.  Sponsored by GCRD and Carolina Elite Soccer Academy.  Teams helping with the soccer clinic are Clemson and Furman Mens and Womens Soccer Teams, USC Upstate Mens Team, and Christ Church Soccer teams.

Jr. Leader Whitewater Trip

   

Mt. Pleasant, Sterling, Brutontown and Freetown offer gyms ideal for parties, receptions, athletic events and activity rooms for smaller gatherings like showers and birthdays.  The historic Sterling gym is a favorite among Sterling High School alumni for reunions.  Slater Hall is now available for parties, reunions, and other events.

Piney Mountain and Woodfield offer activity rooms that accommodate up to 50. All rentals require a three-hour minimum.
