Break the Ice is open to all skaters who are currently eligible (ER 1.00) members of either the Basic Skills Program and/or are full members of U.S. Figure Skating.  To participate in the Basic Skills Competition, competitors must have a private coach and be taking private lessons.  Hockey skaters that are in the Learn to Skate program, Hockey 1 through 4, do not need to have a private instructor to participate in the hockey relays.  A basic skills competition is a fun and exciting way for skaters to learn the fundamentals of preforming in front of an audience and judges.
