History of Brushy Creek Soccer Complex
ReWa (Renewable Water Resources) deeded this 18 acre property to the Greenville County Recreation District in 1979, the same year that the Authority deeded land for the Pavilion Recreation Complex. Both sites were abandoned sewage treatment lagoons. After extensive land reclamation efforts the property was developed into soccer fields and paved parking. Subsequent improvements involved the addition of field lighting, irrigation and restrooms. This was funded through agency self generated revenues, PARD funds generated by a stateside tax on bingo, and a General Obligation Bond.
