The characters in the middle of the trail such as G314 at Swamp Rabbit Café and Grocery are placed every 1/10th of a mile. Think of them as an address on the trail to let a friend know where you are, to track how far you have gone, or if you need to call 911. The ‘G” identifies the “G”reen Line of the Swamp Rabbit Trail Network. The following 3 digits represent the mile and tenth mile. For example G314 means you are at mile 31.4 on the Green Line of the Swamp Rabbit Trail network. In the case of an emergency, you will never be any farther than .05 miles from a stencil to identify your exact location on the trail.

Geocaches can be found all over the world. It is common for geocachers to hide caches in locations that are important to them, reflecting a special interest or skill of the cache owner. These locations can be quite diverse. They may be at your local park, at the end of a long hike, underwater or on the side of a city street.
There are over 2.1 million geocaches in the world today. There are nearly 125 active caches are located within approximately one 1/4 mile from the Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail, and more are being hidden every day. So here’s another opportunity to enjoy this great Upstate recreational resource.
Check our facebook page for posts about items found along the trail.
Often times, regular trail users take found items to Swamp Rabbit Café and Grocery which is between mile markers G313 and G314. Also check in with other trailside businesses close to where the item might have been lost. There is also a lost and found basket on the side of the kiosk at the Duncan Chapel Rd Trailhead near G275
