Bike Skills Flow Park at Gateway Park: The Bike Skills Flow Park offers mountain bikers a progression of trails with various challenges and terrains designed to introduce riders to the sport and sharpen their skills. The first feature of the Flow Park was constructed in the Summer of 2011, offering all abilities of riders a figure-8 pump track. In March of 2013 the Flow Park was completed by Trail Dynamics, Upstate SORBA, and Greater Greenville Parks Foundation’s Park Heroes volunteers. The trails wind their way throughout Gateway Park with a cross-country trail, a youth skills development track and much more.

Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail: Gateway Park is an excellent location to access the Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail. Located behind Sunrift Adventures, Gateway Park is a great destination to walk to bike to from the trail and offers trail parking and restroom. It is also a popular location to hold events such as the Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail 5k race and the Annual Chili Cook-Off organized by the Travelers Rest Chamber of Commerce.

History of Gateway Park

Gateway Park was the original location of Travelers Rest High School in the 1950s. The football field has seen over 3 generations of players at this same location and continues to offer programming for football and baseball leagues in Northern Greenville County. The High School relocated to Wilhelm Winters Road in the late 1990s and now the area is owned by Greenville Rec and used exclusively for recreation. Along with the baseball and football field, a basketball court, tennis courts, a picnic area and a playground offer several active and fun opportunities at Gateway. Mountain Biking trails are the newest addition to Gateway’s unused open space. The Bike Skills park offers a progressive trail system with elements for children, newcomers, teenagers, and expert riders.
